Course Catalog Description

Written proposal must be approved by a faculty sponsor, who will serve as Instructor of Record. Seminars for the group study of selected topics, which will vary from semester to semester. Topics may be initiated by students.

Class Description

This course is offered to assist CDSS students in their career preparation efforts. The course will address common anxieties experienced during preparation for internship or job recruitment. It is designed to encourage and to help you prepare for a career search - from resumes to negotiating your salary. It will highlight relevant resources on campus and industry, and will help you in building your community. Campus resources will be discussed to help you navigate your career journey and help you succeed. Our main goals for you are to: - Develop a solid resume and LinkedIn profile - Build confidence around recruitment activities (career fairs, networking events, etc.) - Learn about life in tech from industry professionals - Build your community at Berkeley - Consistent access to career/academic advising and support
