Course Catalog Description
The Berkeley Seminar Program has been designed to provide new students with the opportunity to explore an intellectual topic with a faculty member in a small-seminar setting. Berkeley Seminars are offered in all campus departments, and topics vary from department to department and semester to semester.
Class Description
Technology offers new opportunities and threats to contemporary families across a broad variety of social contexts. In this seminar we will explore how different forms of technology affect relationships between family members and expectations for family roles and caregiving and are connected to old and new forms of social inequality. This class welcomes freshmen who are interested in an in-depth exploration of this topic in a low-pressure, highly interactive, seminar-style class.
