Specialized topics in area studies in sociology that are not regularly offered in the curriculum may occasionally be offered under this number. The focus of the course will vary depending on the instructor in charge.
Class Description
From the "rise of China" to the ascendance of K-pop, contemporary East Asian developments have global reverberations. This course will analyze and answer a series of questions about contemporary East Asian dynamics, including the "rise of China" and the emergence of K-pop.
