Class Description
This course introduces students to the historiography of Imperial Russia in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The syllabus will be tailored to students' potential research interests, to help them think through how historians have approached such topics as empire, borderlands, nationality, state formation, political dissidence and political violence, and the public sphere. Please be in touch with me before the beginning of the semester to inform me which themes you would like to see emphasized in the readings.
