Class Description

China's foreign policy has changed dramatically at regular intervals, but in recent years, with China's rise, it has become more ambitious and controversial. This course will examine the evolution of Chinese foreign policy since Liberation in 1949 but focus on Asia policy in the period since the introduction of reform and opening in 1978. Students who took PS 128, "Chinese Foreign Policy" with Professor Hong Yung Lee cannot take this course due to the substantial similarity in course content. Subfield: Comparative Politics
