Class Description
This DeCal explores skin through a multidisciplinary lens, combining science, cultural perspectives, and practical skincare practices. The course will cover the biological and chemical makeup of skin, the social impacts of skin color and colorism, the role of self-care in mental health, and how nutrition and professional skin care (e.g., facials) contribute to skin health. We will incorporate fun, hands-on activities alongside theory to enhance learning. Students will leave the course with a well-rounded understanding of skin from a scientific and cultural perspective.
