Introduction to Cognitive Science
Catalog Course Description
This course introduces the interdisciplinary field of cognitive science. Lectures and readings will survey research in such fields as artificial intelligence, psychology, linguistics, philosophy, and neuroscience, and will cover topics such as the nature of knowledge, thinking, remembering, vision, imagery, language, and consciousness. Sections will demonstrate some of the major methodologies.
Spring Term
3 hours of Instructor presentation of course materials per week and 4 hours of Outside Work Hours per week and 2 hours of Instructional experiences requiring special laboratory equipment and facilities per week.
Summer Term
7.5 hours of Instructor presentation of course materials per week and 15 hours of Outside Work Hours per week.
Fall Term
3 hours of Instructor presentation of course materials per week and 4 hours of Outside Work Hours per week and 2 hours of Instructional experiences requiring special laboratory equipment and facilities per week.
