Course Catalog Description
Theoretical and empirical approaches to the explanation of psychological dysfunction. The relation between theories of psychopathology and theories of intervention. A critical evaluation of the effects of individual, family, and community approaches to therapeutic and preventive intervention. Thematic focus of the course may change from year to year. See department notices for details.
Class Notes
50% of seats are released at the beginning of Phase I. All seats are reserved for Psych majors. There is no waitlist. Additional seats may be added to impacted classes (up to 15% more if needed).

More seats will be released during Phase 2, and additional seats will be added during the Adjustment Period. Starting Phase II, Psych enrollment restriction will be removed, and seats are available to all UC Berkeley students on a first-come, first-serve basis. A small waitlist will be added.
Class is synchronous. No time conflict enrollment allowed in LECTURE. Enrollment of students with a time conflict will never be considered.

Psych 130 discussion sections are set-up as OPTIONAL tutoring sessions. If you believe you could benefit from extra support, we encourage you to register. However, all students enrolled in Psych 130 are welcome to attend these sessions, even if they are not officially registered for that particular section.
Time conflict is allowed in the optional tutoring sessions.

Rules & Requirements
Credit Restrictions
Students will receive no credit for PSYCH 130 after completing PSYCH S130, PSYCH S130X, or PSYCH N130. A deficient grade in PSYCH 130 may be removed by taking PSYCH N130.
Repeat Rules
