Course Catalog Description

Introduction to the principal areas, problems, and concepts of psychology. This course is required for the major; students not considering a psychology major are directed to 2.

Class Description

FPF Thread: Social Justice. Broad, general overview of the field of psychology, which is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Special emphasis will be placed on applying psychological principles to everyday life. Psych 1 is designed with intending Psych majors in mind but all students are welcome to take it, and there are no pre-requisites for this course.

Requisites

  • Enrollment in this course is restricted to first semester students participating in the Fall Program for First Semester (FPF). Non-FPF students are not permitted to enroll in this course.

Credit Restrictions

Students will receive no credit for XPSYCH 1 after completing PSYCH 1, PSYCH 2, PSYCH W1, or PSYCH N1. A deficient grade in XPSYCH 1 may be removed by taking PSYCH 1, PSYCH W1, or PSYCH N1.

Repeat Rules

Course is not repeatable for credit.
