Class Description

Global Studies 10B serves as an introduction to the Global Studies curriculum. Generally, its goal is to introduce students to global issues through the lens of the humanities by employing a diverse set of materials that includes art, literature, film, and culture. Students in this class will learn about global interactions from a diversity of cultural perspectives. Over the course of the term, they will explore together what it means to live in our modern, global system by studying media produced in and about other regions of the world. Each week will revolve around the exploration of a major theme in modern social relations—such as technology, migration, and development—with sources derived from a particular region of the world. Through a combination of interactive lectures, films, and readings, we will explore what each theme can teach us about the structure of our current global system
