Course Catalog Description

Advanced study in the field of corporate social responsibility that will address current and emerging issues. Topics will vary with each offering and will be announced at the beginning of each term.

The Plant Futures Challenge Lab is a special course that blends in-class learning with applied field experience. Top undergraduate and graduate students are paired on multidisciplinary teams to work with professional clients from leading food systems organizations to develop actionable solutions to present-day challenges in the plant-based food and agricultural sector. Students will be guided throughout the learning journey by the teaching team and their challenge partner mentors through a series of team meetings, lectures, and workshops and will learn and practice systems thinking and design, ethical leadership, and entrepreneurial agency. The lab partners with a rotating list of professional clients each semester. Past professional partners include Beyond Meat, Tofurky, Califia Farms, Daiya, Meati, Finless Foods, Sun World, Better Food Foundation, Greener by Default, Bond Pet Foods, Beeflow, Factory Farming Awareness Coalition, Mercy for Animals, Plant Based Foods Association, Friends of the Earth, GlassWall Syndicate, New Crop Capital, and Astanor Ventures, among others.

Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through July with priority submissions due by May 14th. Most UGBA classes have a Time Conflict Override attribute when you enroll to help you select classes. However, all students must pick which class to take when the semester begins. There are no exemptions for attendance, assignments or any scheduled exams. If you cannot fulfill all class requirements, then you should drop the class.

Phase I: Enrollment is restricted to Junior and Senior declared Business Administration majors only. All other students must add themselves to the waitlist.
Phase II: Enrollment is prioritized for declared Business Administration majors.
Adjustment Period: Enrollment is prioritized to all undergraduates with 5-8 terms of attendance on a space available basis. show less
