Course Catalog Description

This course covers current topics of interest in civil and environmental engineering. The course content may vary from semester to semester depending upon instructor.

Class Description

Over the coming decades, a new cadre of professionals are needed to create the convergence of technology, data and algorithms that will enhance public health. In this course students will learn how to leverage and harness technology for better and more equitable public health outcomes. This entails learning and understanding the business and policy models that can put technology into practice, overcome community-specific barriers to technology uptake, and create outcomes. The course has a case study format with each case covering an important technology advancing public health. The applications are mental health, bio-surveillance, the environment, and lifestyle.
