Written proposal must be approved by Department Chair. Seminars for the group study of selected topics, which will vary from year to year. Topics may be initiated by students.

This semester (Spring 2024), there will be a DeCal course titled "Economic Tools for Effective Altruism" (Econ 198 - section 002) taught by PhD student Trevor Woolley and sponsored by Prof. Ted Miguel. This will be a two credit course aimed at informing students how they can do as much good as possible with their careers, especially within economics and related fields. The course combines practical lessons from economics with theoretical concepts from the philosophy of ethics in order to equip students with skills that can help them identify and work toward solving some of the world’s most pressing problems. Classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 3-4pm in CORY 289 starting Monday, January 22. Interested students should attend class and enroll!
