Course Catalog Description
A comprehensive survey of the fundamentals of biological chemistry, including the properties of intermediary metabolites, the structure and function of biological macromolecules, the logic of metabolic pathways (both degradative and biosynthetic) and the molecular basis of genetics and gene expression.

The following prerequisites are strictly enforced:
BIOLOGY 1A and CHEM 3B with minimum grades of C- (or equivalent courses); A grade of P will fulfill the requirement; 4 or 5 in AP Biology and an A grade in A-Levels Biology can substitute for Bio 1A.
If you have taken and passed equivalent courses, please complete the following Google form so you can be added to our list of students approved to take MCB 102. If you are approved to take MCB 102, you will be able to enroll in the class or add yourself to the waitlist.

Requisites
- BIOLOGY 1A and CHEM 3B with minimum grades of C- (or equivalent courses). Recommended: a course in physical chemistry.
Credit Restrictions
Students will receive no credit for 102 after taking 100B or C100A/Chemistry C130 or Chemistry 135.
Repeat Rules
Course is not repeatable for credit.
