Course Catalog Description
Students in this course will engage in performance practice as: epistemology, methodology, and mode of research; explore the relationship between bodies, spaces, and temporality as a fundamental aspect of performance; and understand "performance as research" in Performance Studies as a field.
Class Description
In this graduate practicum we will devise and perform an original work as a group, organized around sound. This will include making sound out of novel musical instruments that we must invent and learn to play, making graphic scores using your medium of choice (any material inscribed in any way), with the option of including recording tools. We will use movement as we rotate through the instruments in a sequence that we must choreograph as a group. No prior musical experience necessary.
