Course Catalog Description

An introduction to computationally intensive applied statistics. Topics will include organization and use of databases, visualization and graphics, statistical learning and data mining, model validation procedures, and the presentation of results.

Class Description

This is an introductory-level course to computational data analysis. Topics include 1) principles of data manipulation (e.g. wrangling, reshaping, tidying), 2) principles of data visualization and their role in data analysis projects, 3) programming concepts with emphasis on data analysis, 4) use computational tools to carry out the data analysis cycle, and 5) presentation of results via dynamic documents and web-apps
