Course Catalog Description
This course covers current topics of interest in civil and environmental engineering. The course content may vary from semester to semester depending upon instructor.
Class Description
This course will cover the theoretical basis of the interactions between the hydrological cycle, vegetation, soil, and the atmosphere. In particular, the course will explore how the water and carbon cycles interact at different times and in different ways within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, as well as climate change-induced shifts on the water cycle and what these shifts imply for natural, agricultural, and urban ecosystems and the proper management of future water resources. Hands-on applications will include analysis of satellite and tower data in combination with vegetation modeling.
