Course Catalog Description
Topics will vary semester to semester. See the Electrical Engineering announcements.
Class Description
In 15 weeks we will design a single-chip wireless sensor node "System on a Chip" with a 32 bit RISC-V processor and memory, 2.4 GHz radio transceiver, energy scavenging interface, power management, on-board sensors, and sensor interfaces. The (extremely challenging) goal is to send the chip out for fabrication in 28 nm CMOS at the end of the semester.
One or more teams of students will divide the project into modules and work together to design and integrate the modules into a single chip. Topics include: Analog/RF mixed-signal ASIC toolchain: layout, synthesis, extraction, verfication; design for test; matlab system modeling; interface design; floorplanning; system simulation.
Class Notes
The class will take place at 2108 Allston Way Suite 200.
