Class Description

Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through an exciting, mentorship-based process. PiE is a student outreach organization based in UC Berkeley and was founded in 2008 by members of Tau Beta Pi. We strongly believe that no student should be denied a quality STEM education experience. Here at PiE, we don't have an application process. Rather, we firmly believe that any UC Berkeley student who is interested in our club has something to offer, whether community-wise, project-wise, or anything else that we can't think of ourselves! You will be assigned to a project of your preference in which you will work on producing a deliverable for PiE Readiness Review. Projects start preparing in fall for our high school robotics competition held in the spring, with project activities spanning a large range of topics depending on the specific project and goals of project managers. PiE Readiness Review is a day-long event that provides PiE staff the opportunity to present the progress of their projects to the rest of PiE. This is also a chance for PiE stakeholders to assess the readiness of projects to enter the spring competition season. Remote instruction: DeCals in EECS will be offered remotely in Fall 2021. This class is two units. Select two units upon enrolling.
