Class Description

In Teatro lab, students engage with Chicanx/Latinx American artists and activists based on critical praxis, community power, and restorative justice. This class is especially geared toward the thinking-artist who is interested in areas of directing, design, politics, health/healing, education, and group facilitation. Students will practice collaboration and performance making relevant to the issues of our times in the laboratory space of the theater. We will analyze play texts and live performances through discussion, workshops, ensemble building, and participatory methodologies. Students will also have an opportunity to write for an on-line journal, participate in events and event organization, see live theater, and develop critical writing and production skills.
