Transitioning to the undergraduate experience at Berkeley can be challenging; and even more so in light of a global pandemic. This seminar is designed to help ease the transition to studying EECS and related majors. Many students find that the style of teaching-learning-and-studying at Berkeley is different from what they have experienced before. During this seminar we will discuss strategies that will help you succeed in your coursework at Berkeley, form study groups and try to get the most out of your Berkeley experience. To help with this, we will also discuss the pedagogical design of courses at Berkeley.
The seminar is intended for freshmen, sophomores and incoming transfer students (from any major or undeclared) who will be enrolled in EECS 16A in Fall 2020, since many of the examples we will discuss will build on what is being taught in EECS 16A. All students are welcome, and we particularly invite first-generation college students, international students, or students who do not already have significant social networks at Berkeley to join us.
