Catalog Course Description

Stoichiometry of chemical reactions, quantum mechanical description of atoms, the elements and periodic table, chemical bonding, real and ideal gases, thermochemistry, introduction to thermodynamics and equilibrium, acid-base and solubility equilibria, introduction to oxidation-reduction reactions, introduction to chemical kinetics. This course is web-based.

Fall Term

5 hours of Outside Work Hours per week and 3 hours of Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard lectures (effective Fall 2006) per week and 1 hours of Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard discussion sections (effective Fall 2006) per week.

Summer Term

2 hours of Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard discussion sections (effective Fall 2006) per week and 9 hours of Outside Work Hours per week and 6 hours of Web-based or technologically-mediated activities replacing standard lectures (effective Fall 2006) per week.

Spring Term
