Course Catalog Description
Introduction to dance techniques. Study of foundational concepts of movement such as: principles of alignment, locomotion, dance terminology, and musicality.
Class Description
This beginning-level Modern Dance class requires no prior experience. Students will explore movement through Gaga, improvisation, floorwork, inversions, and athletic standing phrases. Classes include technical exercises—both freeform and set—to build strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and expressiveness. The course also introduces the foundations and history of Modern Dance to provide context for contemporary practices.
