Varying topics covering current discoveries, research, theories, fieldwork, etc., in biological anthropology. Topics vary with instructor.
Class Description
Using an interdisciplinary framework, this course seeks to center diversity and variation in the study of the human brain. Our goal will be to understand how the brain works and how it has come to work in the ways that it does, while at the same time challenging the normative conception of a typical or average ("the") human brain.
To achieve this goal, the course will integrate readings in the anthropology of neurodiversity alongside lessons on the structure, function, development, and evolutionary history of human and animal brains.
