Course Catalog Description
Investigation of the main achievements and tensions in Roman culture from Romulus to the High Empire. Key sources for literature, history, and material culture are studied in order to reveal Roman civilization in its political and social context. All materials are read in English.
Class Description
This course presents an overview of the highlights of Roman civilization with an emphasis on major literary works and how they reflect Roman culture. The discussion sections will provide supplementary information and an opportunity to discuss topics addressed in the lectures.
