Course Catalog Description
Fundamentals of guitar performance, including tuning, basic pitch and rhythm reading, melody and chord playing.
Class Description
Open to students at all levels. Students provide their own acoustic (steel string or nylon string) guitar.
Class Notes
Students will develop a strong foundation in both plectrum and fingerstyle guitar playing, with emphasis on music reading, solo and group performance. Class topics will include basic tuning, development of a strong left and right hand technique, fluency in reading standard music notation and guitar ..

Students will develop a strong foundation in both plectrum and fingerstyle guitar playing, with emphasis on music reading, solo and group performance. Class topics will include basic tuning, development of a strong left and right hand technique, fluency in reading standard music notation and guitar tablature, scales and chords, introduction to scale and chord theory. The class will also provide exposure to great guitarists in a variety of music styles. No prior musical experience is necessary.
Students are required to attend 3 days per week, and students should plan to provide their own acoustic (steel string or nylon string) guitar. No electric guitars. show less
