Course Catalog Description
This interdisciplinary course equips students with essential tools and methods for data analysis while introducing critical frameworks to design projects with a focus on social impact. By combining technical skills with ethical considerations, the course challenges the "market-first" mentality prevalent in data science and fosters an understanding of how data-driven solutions can advance social justice. Through a combination of hands-on workshops and guided discussions, students will explore topics such as bias in datasets, the ethics of machine learning, data surveillance, and the social implications of data gathering and usage.
