Class Description
Does your family own a business? Have you ever wanted to start a company with a relative? There are more than 5.5 million family-owned enterprises in the U.S., and globally they account for more than 70% of the world’s GDP and 60% of its employment. But these businesses often face challenges in growing and scaling that can be hard to overcome. The course Solving Family Business Growth Challenges is a practicum that gives students the skills and hands-on experience to help these enterprises scale and succeed. Through a combination of lectures, team collaboration, mentorship, and a semester-long consulting project with a family business, students will learn about and apply concepts covering everything from business models to financing to interpersonal family dynamics.
