Course Catalog Description
Advanced study in various fields of plant biology and microbial biology. Topics will be announced in advance of each semester. Enrollment in more than one section permitted.
Class Description
This class has a journal club format and meets weekly (via zoom) to discuss journal articles related to the impacts of fire and drought on forest and microbial structure and function. We also discuss ideas for future experiments and data collection that integrate molecular, cellular, organismal, and ecological methods and approaches for the NSF-funded project (EMBER) Embedding Molecular Biology in Ecosystem Research. The Spring 2025 course will also include the design of a specific experiment to be carried out by graduate students and postdocs at the EMBER BOOTCAMP in May / June 2025. Students who are not attending BOOTCAMP can still attend!
