1 to 4 hours of directed group study per week, and 2 to 8 hours of outside work hours per week.
Class Description
This course introduces students to the exciting and inclusive world of adaptive sports, covering disciplines such as goalball, wheelchair basketball, adaptive pickleball, sitting volleyball, and adaptive climbing. Through a combination of theoretical study, hands-on practice, and experiential learning, students will gain a deep understanding of the challenges, strategies, and benefits of these sports. Weekly sessions will include active participation, guest speakers, and discussions, culminating in full-speed game action. Additionally, students will attend an adaptive recreation event and submit reflection papers to engage with the transformative impact of adaptive sports on individuals and communities.
