Course Catalog Description
Advanced seminar in Native American Studies with topics to be announced at the beginning of each semester.
Class Description
From the Pueblo Revolts of 1680 to the Standing Rock protests of 2016, indigenous resistance and activism has consistently opposed the forces of settler colonialism and the generational disruption of their communities. From protecting landscapes, to preserving languages and cultural practices, to fighting for sovereignty, indigenous activism has become a vital and necessary part of Native communities today. This course will survey indigenous intellectuals, thinkers, writers, organizers and movements that have defined and shaped indigenous activism and resistance.
