Class Description
In this course we will use the methods of depth psychology to analyze myths and texts, explore the deepest parts of the unconscious mind, and understand the archetypal symbols that are both within us and in our cultures. We will draw on this knowledge to examine the ethics of relationships between the individual, society, and nature, posing questions such as the following. How should humans understand nature? How should the individual and society relate to nature? How are our attitudes toward nature shaped and reflected by the archetypal patterns of stories? How is environmentalism formed by these mythical archetypes?`
