Seminar for the group study of selected topics. Topics may be initated by students subject to the approval of the major advisor.
Class Description
BASICS (Berkeley Accelerator & Startup Incubator in Cognitive Science) enters phase II of its program, and transforms into a hands-on, real world accelerator. If you took the first part of this class before and wish to make your idea come true, or if you have a fleshed-out idea for a startup in cognitive science that you are excited about, this is the place for you. In this accelerator program, a tailor-made plan will be fitted to your needs, to help you launch a successful product, building on and expanding your knowledge in cognitive science. The program will pair you with business mentors to aid you develop and fine-tune your idea, raise funds, and establish a working team with a viable product. At the same time, it will pair you with leading academic mentors in the field of cognitive science, so you can carry out in-depth research of the cognitive aspects of your product, giving you the scientific basis to build upon.
The class will require a substantial amount of time and effort, and is meant for those who are serious about starting their own company and leveraging the environment the program offers to make their company successful.
