For information about enrollment availability and restrictions, go to: https://mcb.berkeley.edu/courses/bio1a/enroll/

Students must read the Required Enrollment Instructions completely before enrolling.

We are prioritizing enrollment for high class levels for the remaining open seats by reserving them for Terms in Attendance 3-8 students. Therefore, all Freshmen (students categorized as 1 or 2 Terms in Attendance) are restricted from enrolling until December 11th. As of December 11th, any remaining seats will be open to all students.

Enrollment in both Biology 1A and Biology 1AL at the same time (in the same cart) is required. The enrollment system will require this as the courses are co-requisites.

Because of the co-requisite, the wait lists do not work. There will be no wait lists used for this class.

The course pre-requisite will be be strictly enforced by the enrollment system. Students not meeting the pre-requisite (in their Student Records) will not be able to enroll.

Time conflicts are not allowed.

MWF 8-9 Lecture sections will be In-Person in 1 Pimentel with overflow simulcast in 10 Evans and 60 Evans.
These sessions will be recorded via Course Capture and made available on bCourses.

Discussion sections will be held In-Person.

Midterm exams will be held In-Person scheduled during the MWF 8-9 time.

Exams for Spring 2025 (In-Person):

Midterm Exam 1: Monday February 24, 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Midterm Exam 2: Monday April 7, 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Final Exam: Monday May 12, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Do not schedule any conflicts with exams. No Make-up exams will be possible.

Students are expected to be able to attend all class meetings and exams. Class schedule time conflicts will not be accommodated. If you have a time conflict allowed by another class, that class must accommodate any conflict issues.

If you have any Biology 1A/1AL enrollment questions, please look for answers on our Enrollment Information website (link above). Contact Info is available on the site if you cannot find an answer to your question.
