Course Catalog Description
Special Topics courses offer students opportunities for more concentrated focus beyond general curriculum offerings. Courses may align with an instructor’s own research, they may propose topics responding to contemporary events and issues, or they may offer a specialized skill. Primarily intended for advanced undergraduates and graduates in Art Practice but open to others.
Class Description
In this course print techniques will be investigated in a non-traditional approach to create unique
prints. This course will cover Collagraph, Monoprint and the expanded print. By working with
experimental materials, students will generate both improvisational and reactionary works of art.
Printmaking will be applied in an open-ended manner, exploring unique concepts to create fine
art prints. The nature of printmaking in this course favors texture, layers, abstraction and
process over conventional image making. Prints will be created as a means of process rather
than serial printmaking.
