Class Description
This course prepares students to conduct community engaged research of various sorts: research that is undertaken in consultation with local communities, through observation of and participation in social movements, in the interest of the general public or particular local- or counter-publics, and beyond. To do so it explores various methodologies, practices, and examples of community engaged research in the field of Geography and related fields, along with ethical and practical considerations that should be addressed before conducting community engaged research.
