Course Catalog Description
Study of principles and practice of stage directing.
Class Description
Students will learn techniques of staging, working with actors, and situating productions in time, place, and space. Culminating in a showcase, this class will prepare students to direct their own productions that contribute to society in meaningful and grounded ways. They will engage was frameworks including trauma informed best practices, intimacy choreography, and race and gender conscious casting. Students will learn the craft of the director, in context of the history and contemporary realities of the role.
