Course Catalog Description
This course is designed primarily to allow faculty to develop focused interdisciplinary courses which address specific issues, themes, or problems in American Jewish politics, culture, and society. Topics may vary from semester to semester. Students should consult the department's webpage for current offerings before the start of the semester.
Class Description
Despite small size, Jews and Judaism have held a large place in the American political mind. This course examines the role of Jewish thought in American ideas since before the Founding, analyzes past and current views on Jews and Judaism across the American political spectrum, and explores continuing anti-Semitism and philo-Semitism in the US.
Counts toward the Jewish Studies Minor.
