Course Catalog Description
A seminar course designed to involve Ethnic Studies students directly in the research process. Emphasis on examination and analysis of primary sources, methodology, and the development of theoretical constructs. A major research paper is required.
Class Description
This course explores intellectual contributions and experiences of Latinxs in the United States from the vantage point of the social sciences. Themes include racialization and categorization of Latinxs, panethnicity, ethnoracial positionalities, settler colonialism, internal colonialism, immigration and deportation, social movements, and education, while attending to the multitude of Latinx heterogeneities that can shape experiences of freedom, justice, and domination.
