Course Catalog Description
This course covers current topics of research interest in bioengineering. The course content may vary from semester to semester.
Class Description
The goal of this class is to learn cutting edge research topics in computational biology including
structural bioinformatics and data science, develop critical scientific skills to evaluate published
literature, and enhance student skills in scientific communication. The class uses exemplars from
genetics and climate-impacted agriculture. Students will be required to deliver a professional
presentation to a diverse audience, attend presentations of other students’ work, and participate
in discussions of the presented research. To help students improve as speakers, each student
will receive feedback from fellow students and the instructor.
