Course Catalog Description

The Freshman Seminar Program has been designed to provide new students with the opportunity to explore an intellectual topic with a faculty member in a small seminar setting. Freshman seminars are offered in all campus departments, and topics may vary from department to department and semester to semester. Enrollment limited to 15 freshmen.

Class Description

Everyone's people built with earth at one time or another. As we are finding our way towards sustainable building practices, the use of one technology might hold some clues to saving energy, emitting less carbon, and potentially returning our structures to the earth with less damage once we are gone. We will make adobes, build with them, and explore how they intersect with food, architecture, and cultures around the world.

Class Notes

This course will meet in the courtyard space behind Room 197 in the Anthropology and Art Practice Bldg.
