Class Description
This research seminar is for students working on all topics in Latin American and Caribbean history as well as students interested more broadly in histories of the Americas and/or the US in the World. The primary objective of this course is for students to research, write, and revise a journal article-length paper based on primary source research. We will meet regularly at the beginning of the semester while students are getting their individual projects off the ground and then convene only periodically during the middle of the semester as students devote their time to making progress on their manuscripts. Towards the end of the semester, we will gather to peer review rough drafts and determine plans for revision. Please come to seminar at the beginning of the semester with a clearly identified primary source base and a general sense of the scholarly conversations to which you wish to contribute. If you are uncertain about whether this class is the right fit for your research agenda, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
