Course Catalog Description
This course examines major structural issues in the dominant food system, and
movements for food justice, food sovereignty and seed sovereignty organized by food
producers, workers, and consumers that have arisen to assert access to healthy food as a
human right. Through exploring how we are defining ‘healthy food’, and the spaces and
communities which have historically had more constrained access to this food and its
means of production, this class will work to familiarize students with food justice
activism in the Bay Area and beyond.
