Course Catalog Description
The goal is to provide a systematic learning experience in the scientific field of interdisciplinary research on children of immigrant families. Students will learn about the scientific theories, research methods, and key research findings. Students will be exposed to primary and secondary source readings on ecological and socio-cultural theories of human development, the guiding framework for research on immigrant families. Students will also read theoretical and empirical research articles on language, cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional development of children in immigrant families, as well as prevention, intervention, and policy research on children of immigrant families.

Credit Restrictions
Students will receive no credit for PSYCH 171 after completing PSYCH 171. A deficient grade in PSYCH 171 may be removed by taking PSYCH 171.
