Course Catalog Description
Participation in technical theater practice associated with department theater and dance productions to include workshop activities (fabrication, treatment, and installation) in one or more of: costumes, hair, make-up, scenery, properties, lighting, video, and sound for live performance.
Class Description
THR 168 is a course designed to offer credit for practical, hands-on experience in technical theater production. Students completing THR 168 will enroll in either the Scenery Lab, Costume Lab or Lighting/Sound Lab and gain a greater understanding of the roles, duties and responsibilities within that specific production department /shop Lab.
All labs will be Feb 8 2023 - April 28 2023.

Students who enroll in Lab 3 OR Lab 4 - Lighting/Sound Labs, will gain hands-on experience in the Lighting/Sound Department. Students who enroll in Lab 3 OR Lab 4 - Lighting/Sound Labs, will gain hands-on experience in the Lighting/Sound Department. Lighting/Sound lab students will gain an understanding of electrical and fall safety, be able to identify tools and equipment related to lighting and sound and learn lighting terminology. They will gain basic electrical experience including wiring and testing. Students will learn to participate in the process of hanging, focusing and circuiting lighting for theatrical productions becoming familiar with lighting instruments and paperwork and set up of basic audio systems, including headsets for theater communication.

- Theater 60 must be completed or in progress at time of enrollment, or taken concurrently with Theater 168; or Consent of Instructor.
