Class Description
This DeCal will give students an introduction to the growing field of Psychedelic Sciences from neurobiological, psychological, and anthropological perspectives. Throughout the course, we will dive into the history, culture, and therapeutic use of psychedelic substances across the globe. Our class is suitable for anyone, ranging from psychedelic experts to curious newcomers, and all those in between. We hope to offer content that is interesting to all, whether you are passionate about understanding the brain, promising psychotherapy applications, or philosophy of mind, we’ll have something for you. We are offering a list of readings on current research in the field, the history of psychedelics in the West, the ritualistic use of entheogens in Indigenous cultures, and more. Our goal is to create a learning environment open to anyone who is intrigued and curious, where we can share a safe-space for open discussion about this exciting field!
