Course Catalog Description
Training in writing expository prose. Instruction in expository writing in conjunction with reading literature.
Class Description
FPF Threads: California and Social Justice.
This reading and composition course will address different forces that have shaped the space of the Bay Area, including settlement, immigration, labor, policing, and conservationism, as well as queer, Black, and disability power movements. You will be reading a variety of texts and producing writing across multiple genres engaging with these various themes.

- Satisfaction of the Entry Level Writing Requirement. Enrollment in this course is restricted to first semester first-year students participating in the Fall Program for First Semester (FPF). Non-FPF students are not permitted to enroll in this course.

Credit Restrictions
Students will receive no credit for XENGLIS R1A after completing ENGLISH 1A, or ENGLISH R1AN. A deficient grade in XENGLIS R1A may be removed by taking ENGLISH 1A, or ENGLISH R1AN.
