Course Catalog Description
The Berkeley Seminar Program has been designed to provide new students with the opportunity to explore an intellectual topic with a faculty member in a small-seminar setting. Berkeley Seminars are offered in all campus departments, and topics vary from department to department and semester to semester.
Class Description
Sor Juana was aware of her fame in her own time, and has become a powerful Latina cultural icon. Beyond the various biographical fictions, we will follow her scientific exploration, her sharp wit, and her ironic response to gendered and colonizing views of her genius.
