Lectures and small group discussions focusing on topics of interest, varying from semester to semester.
Class Description
The objective of this course is to provide an introduction to state-of-the-art modern Flow Cytometry technology commonly used in immunology research laboratories. The course is intended for upper-division undergraduate students majoring in immunology and those majoring in other biological sciences who plan to use flow cytometry in independent-study projects in the research laboratories or in employment. You will learn principles of the flow cytometer, principles of Fluorescence, data analysis, use of controls in flow cytometry, optimizing your experiments, basic rules for building multi-color panels, uses of flow cytometry, common protocols and troubleshooting. The laboratory work will include working on Flow Cytometry cell analyser with multi-color beads and also performing quality control of the flow cytometer using beads.
