Course Catalog Description
Supervised internship program. Regular individual meetings with faculty sponsor and written reports required.
Class Description
The course is designed to support students in a creative internship in radio broadcasting at KALX and to shape and reflect on their internship experiences. The section will be held in the studios and offices of KALX. Students will work in teams to produce a bi-weekly, 30-minute public affairs program. There may be other opportunities for students to assist behind the scenes / off the air, but being a music DJ is not one of the options for this internship. Students will meet every other week in their cohort for facilitated conversations on building career development skills, interspersed with hands-on training and radio production to support their creative, personal, and professional goals. Students are expected to work six hours per week to complete this two-unit course. Some prior audio editing experience is preferred.
Students can apply to participating internships by Friday, August 11 at noon PST via this Google form: https://forms.gle/TGRVDdyJhrmzQyS59.
